Achieving open, future-proof data availability in healthcare requires strong collaboration between regional organisations, vendors, and specialised experts. Organisations like Furore Conclusion provide the technical bridge-building necessary to turn the industry’s digital goals into reality.
On April 30th, Furore Conclusion and Cadasto formalised their partnership, with Furore stepping into a key role as a Value Added Reseller for Cadasto.
To explore what this means for the future of health IT, we sat down with Bas Wencker (Department Manager Data at Furore) and Martin van der Meer (Cadasto’s Partner Manager). In this article, they share their vision for the evolving data landscape and their hopes for how this partnership will drive meaningful change.
Let’s dive in.
The Goal? Facilitating True Impact!
For those familiar with the landscape, the technical alignment between the two organisations is clear. Furore Conclusion offers a comprehensive suite of services, from implementation to strategic consultancy, that perfectly complements Cadasto’s core solution: a healthcare data platform built on open standards.
However, for Bas and Martin, the synergy runs deeper than just product-market fit. “Our company cultures and mentalities are very similar”, Bas explains. “We share a can-do attitude and a drive to make a tangible impact on the future of healthcare IT.” Martin agrees, noting that while our visions are aligned, our unique capabilities provide the real value.
“We share the same goals, but we bring very different strengths to the table. This partnership allows us to combine those strengths in a way that will truly move the needle for the industry.”
The Time Is Right
Anyone active in healthcare IT knows the industry has reached a turning point. Martin has watched this evolution with enthusiasm: “We have been advocating for this for years: the need for seamless data communication, persistence, reusability, and the clear separation of data from functionality. Everything we have built has been leading to this moment and the timing is finally right to move forward.”
For Furore, this shift is mirrored in the changing demands of their clients. “The worlds of openEHR and FHIR have been converging in recent years,” Bas notes.
“Furore has always believed in the power of open standards and specifically in combining standards like openEHR and FHIR according to their individual strengths. In Cadasto, we found a partner that has not just endorsed this vision, but has spent years building the solutions to support it. From that perspective, joining forces was a no-brainer.”
Unlocking Potential
In short, the tech is available, the expertise is there. Furore and Cadasto are poised to tackle the challenges to achieve data availability, but what can healthcare organisations do themselves to ensure a smooth transition to open data architectures? “Start with the use-cases”, Bas advises. “We have achieved a measure of awareness on the need for standardised data, but too often, a long-term vision on what organisations want to do with an open architecture is missing. It offers immense potential, but you need the vision to unlock it.”
While a solid vision is an important starting point, Martin emphasises that the very transition to an open data architecture will act as a catalyst for new ideas. “I am excited to see where it will lead us, we will be able to learn from each other on a much larger scale. When you remove the barriers to data, who knows where we will be in three to five years?”
Looking Ahead
The future is looking bright – with our combined strengths, we aim to show that true data availability in healthcare is possible. “We want to demonstrate that all this is more than a technical philosophy”, says Bas. “The best way to prove the value of open data is through real-world applications that deliver a tangible impact for healthcare providers and their patients.”
Martin emphasises that the shift must be built on a foundation of trust: “In the past, vendor interests have not always aligned with the greater good. We want to change that narrative. As vendors, we must prove we can be trusted with this challenge, and we hope others in the industry will join us in that commitment.”
Bas agrees. “Both Furore and Cadasto prioritise being open and transparent. Our goal is to end vendor lock-in and give organisations true autonomy over their data, by means of reliable, high-performance technology. That is our promise.”
